The consumer market has shown eagerness for the adoption of Internet-of-Things technologies. In the industrial and manufacturing sector, there is a quiet revolution under way which promises to profitably leverage the power of connectedness. The “sensor” part of this platform is fairly well developed; what remains to be developed are ruggedized software backbones and the subsequent integration in workflow environments.
